Pearl Cotton is a 2-ply, hi-sheen mercerised cotton thread.

A list of the uses to which pearl cotton is put will help convey its broad range of applications. It is used in appliqué,, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, lacework, needlepoint, pulled threadwork, and tatting. The thread can sometimes be substituted by crochet cotton, embroidery floss or other threads or yarns, depending on the size of the thread and the particular craft.

Soak or gently rub your item (yarn/thread/unfinished/finished projects) in the soapy water but never scrub, twist or wring
it. Drain off the water and rinse with fresh, cold water. Keep draining
and adding water until it runs clear and is soap free. Gently squeeze
out as much water as you can without wringing or twisting. Use Mild Detergent only. Do Not Dry under direct sunlight, Air Dry only.
